What is Big Interview?

Virtual interview training is free for all Griffith students and staff.

Big Interview is beneficial for both students and academic staff because it:

How Can I Use It in My Course?

Big Interview is integrated into Canvas via LTI, allowing you to embed mock interview activities directly into your course site. Common use cases include:

  • Practice for placement or graduate job interviews
  • Employability tasks within capstone or career development units
  • Optional skill-building resources for students

There’s no formal request process, course convenors can choose to include Big Interview and access guidance from support teams as needed. Using Big Interview for assessment

Academic staff can integrate Big Interview into their assessment processes by:

  • Creating custom interview assignments tailored to course objectives.
  • Assigning specific interview questions for students to practice and record their responses.
  • Using the platform’s analytics to track student progress and performance.

Please note that activities created in the Griffith Big Interview environment are accessible by all staff given administration access to build activities. Student responses to activities do remain secure.

How Do I Get Started?

  1. Plan your approach with advice from the Student Experience and Employability (SEE) team.
  2. Enable Big Interview in Canvas with help from the Academic Assist (CCEE) team.
  3. Embed activities into your Canvas site and direct students to access the tool via single sign-on.

Add Big Interview as an Assignment

  1. Access your course site and navigate to the Assignments page on the left-hand menu.
  2. Click on ‘Add Assignment’ button in top right-hand corner (to create new assignment)
  3. Give the assignment a Name
  4. Add the totals point the assignment is worth.
  5. Select the ‘Assignment group’ this assessment is associated with.
  6. Select the ‘Display marks as’ option (default select point).
  7. Set ‘Submission Type’ as External and search for Big Interview: https://griffith.biginterview.com/lti/launch
  8. Select ‘Load this Tool in a New Tab’.
  9. Specify the number of attempts for this assignment.
  10. Specify the ‘Availability dates’ for the assignment.
  11. Select ‘Save and Publish’.

When marking Big Interview assignments, you will need to manually enter marks into the column created. The integration does not currently pass marks between the two systems.

To manage and provide feedback on Big Interview assessments:

  1. Review student interview recordings and AI-generated feedback.
  2. Provide additional personalized feedback based on specific criteria.
