About the role
We are currently recruiting for two Professor of Nursing (D/E, E) vacancies within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. For these positions we are seeking leaders with an impressive program of research aligned with Australia’s national research agendas (NHMRC, MRFF, ARC). This role will suit candidates who hold nursing registration with AHPRA (or who are eligible to apply) with an outstanding record of attracting externally competitive research funding, publications, and research student supervision.
As a Professor at Griffith University you will be a leading authority in Nursing and will foster excellence in research, teaching, engagement and professional activities. You will have achieved international recognition through original, innovative, and distinguished contributions to the field of Nursing, which is demonstrated by sustained and distinguished performance.
In this position you will:
- Provide academic leadership across research and learning and teaching
- Conduct high quality impactful research and generate competitive research funding
- Collaborate with the School Executive team on the development and implementation of the schools strategic vision
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the community
This is a continuing, full-time position working across our vibrant world class facilities across South- East Queensland (Brisbane, Logan & Gold Coast campus). As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

Excellence in Research for Australia
In the most recent national evaluation of research performance, Excellence in Research for Australia 2018, Griffith was awarded the highest rating, ‘well above world standard’, in 20 specific fields of research, and ‘above world standard’ in another 21 specific fields. Ninety-nine percent of our research output was contained in the 59 fields of research rated ‘world standard’ or above, placing Griffith in the top 10 in Australia for the breadth and excellence of our research.
Rankings performance
Griffith now appears in the top 300 on the Times HE World University Rankings, the U.S. News Best Global Universities and University Ranking by Academic Performance. Griffith also ranks highly as a young university, ranking 33rd in the 2022 Times Higher Education Young University Rankings and 33rd in the 2022 QS University Rankings: Top 50 Under 50.
