Penalties for non-payment of fees

It is important that you know how much your fees are, when they are due and make arrangements to pay them on time. Failure to pay your fees by the due date could result in financial penalties and academic withdrawal.

All students

If your Academic Charges Account has an outstanding balance as at the census date, a service restriction will be placed on your record and a late payment charge of $70 may be imposed. The service restriction will prevent you from:

  • viewing your grades
  • accessing your academic transcript
  • graduating
  • making adjustments to current enrolment or enrolling in future trimesters.

These restrictions will remain on your record until the outstanding amount has been paid in full, including any late payment charges. If you have a service restriction, you will be notified when you login to myGriffith.

Commonwealth supported students

If you do not pay the Student Contribution Amount (SCA) or provide your Tax File Number by the census date, your enrolment will be cancelled. This is a legislative requirement of the Higher Education Support Act 2003.

To have your enrolment reinstated, you must provide evidence, within six weeks of the census date, that you have met the requirements to be eligible for Commonwealth support, as at the census date.

Australian permanent residents are not eligible to defer their Student Contribution Amount. New Zealand citizens are not eligible to defer their Student Contribution Amount unless they meet specific eligibility criteria.

Domestic fee-paying students

If you do not pay your tuition fees by the census date, your enrolment will be cancelled.

To have your enrolment reinstated, you must pay all outstanding fees and charges, plus a $100 reinstatement charge, within 20 working days of receiving your notice of cancellation.

International students

If you do not pay your tuition fees by the census date, your enrolment will be cancelled.

To have your enrolment reinstated, you will need to pay all outstanding fees and charges, plus a A$100 reinstatement charge, within 20 working days of receiving your notice of cancellation.

If your enrolment is cancelled due to non-payment of fees, you should contact Griffith International immediately, as cancellation may affect the status of your student visa.
