Our transition plan to ensure a smooth exit from the campus in late 2025
Mount Gravatt campus is home to teaching and research in criminology and criminal justice, education, psychology, and other socially focused fields. The campus has undergone several refurbishments and expansion of facilities since it was initially established in 1969.
However, following a review that highlighted ongoing viability issues as many of the facilities are ageing and/or are no longer fit for purpose, a decision was made to consolidate Mount Gravatt campus into Nathan campus by 2026.
Over the next four years, we will be working with staff, students, and the many communities and groups connected to Mount Gravatt campus on a transition plan to ensure a smooth exit from the campus in late 2025-early 2026.
New Arrivals Building N82
Over the next four years, a new flagship building (N82) will be developed in the arrivals area at Nathan campus on the current Environment 2 (N13) site to accommodate AEL and Health staff and students from Mount Gravatt campus.
Most of the staff at Mount Gravatt will relocate to the New Arrivals Building (N82) in 2025/2026, but there will be other short-term decants of groups required until permanent accommodation is available.
Our focus on campus experience
Between now and the end of 2025, we will continue to make the on-campus experience at Mount Gravatt an engaging and collaborative one for staff and students.
Street Fair on the Mountain returns for 2023, bringing an eclectic mix of street food, workshops, activities, market stalls and live music.
Mana Coffee is open Monday to Friday with a variety of food options along with great tasting coffee.
Enjoy the world-class sporting and fitness facilities at the campus with a wide range of events and social activities available. Visit the Sport and Recreation website to find out more.
Nathan campus Master Plan
We continue to work with staff, students, and the many communities and groups connected to Nathan campus to develop the Master Plan.
As we consolidate the campuses, the development of sporting and recreation facilities for staff and students will be one of many points explored as part of the Nathan master planning process.
