All staff

This year’s staff flu vaccination program will be managed externally by VaxWorks and is FREE to all staff and students. Vaccinations will be administered on all campuses between Monday 15th April 2024 and Wednesday 15th May 2024, by appointment only.

The flu is easily spread, and this health and safety initiative can reduce the impact of seasonal flu in the workplace and home. When you get the flu vaccine, you are protecting yourself, your loved ones and those around you.

2024 flu vaccine

The strains for the 2024 vaccine include the following:

  • an A/Sydney/5/2021 (H1N1) - new strain
  • an A/Darwin/6/2021 (H3N2)
  • a B/Austria/1359417/2021 (B/Victoria lineage)
  • a B/Phuket/3073/2013-like (B/Yamagata lineage)

(Note the location in the name of the virus is the location of the lab which isolated the virus. Viruses travel around the world and you are no more likely to get infected with the B/Phuket strain in Phuket than anywhere else.)

All staff are encouraged to receive their free vaccine by booking an appointment and completing the consent form.

Planning your vaccinations

As per Government advice, it is recommended that staff get vaccinated against COVID-19 as well as the flu. While it is important to get vaccinated against both, receiving a COVID-19 vaccine on the same day, or within a few days of a flu vaccine is safe and effective. However, it may lead to an increase in common side effects, so please plan your vaccinations accordingly. Read more here.

Vaccination Dates

Please note: Persons over 65 should consult their General Practitioner as it is preferred that they receive the enhanced flu vaccination.
