Located in Brisbane’s cultural precinct, students collaborate with Queensland College of Art and Design and Queensland Conservatorium peers, strengthening industry connections and real‑world creative practice.

Director
Professor Chris Carter
With decades of experience in Australian creative arts education, Chris he leads a large, multidisciplinary creative team at Griffith Film School spanning film, animation, games, and emerging screen media. His role encompasses strategic leadership, people and culture, partnerships, and stewardship of significant financial and infrastructure resources, contributing to excellence, innovation, and impact through education and research.
Deputy Director, Learning and Teaching
Associate Professor Justin Carter
With extensive experience in leading the design and creative of innovative applied research and work-integrated studio environments, Justin is committed to providing transformative interdisciplinary learning experiences across the creative industries. He has successfully led large international study tours, and in 2018 he was awarded funding for his ‘Road to Cologne’ International games study tour. This program provides opportunities for participants to visit game design studios in London, Paris, and Cologne and to engage with industry-leading game developers.
Deputy Director, Research
Associate Professor Nico Meissner
With an extensive teaching and researching background across the UK, Finland, Portugal, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Colombia, the Philippines, and Australia, Nico's research examines how screen and media practices create pathways for community impact — across education, civil society, and industry — through internationally networked, partnership-based projects. He was the inaugural Dean of the Faculty of Cinematic Arts in Malaysia, and previous Deputy Director (Learning & Teaching) of Griffith Film School.

Screen culture shapes how communities understand identity, place and possibility. We seek to foster creative practice that contributes to Indigenous flourishing, inclusive and cohesive communities, environmental sustainability, improved wellbeing, and technologies that enhance human experience.
Through teaching, research and engagement, we aim to ensure that creative industries are not only economically sustainable, but culturally meaningful and socially responsible.
