Bachelor of Music (Classical Voice)
Kate Miller-Heidke’s remarkable voice has mesmerised audiences across the globe. The versatile singer has an enviable career that straddles the world of classical and pop music, from performing in front of hundreds of millions of viewers at Eurovision to gracing the stage at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and producing a score of ARIA-award winning pop albums. Kate was the second Queensland Conservatorium alumnus to represent Australia at Eurovision, after Dami Im in 2016. Her Eurovision hit Zero Gravity, co-written by her husband and fellow Griffith graduate Keir Nuttall, showcased Miller-Heidke’s soaring vocals—a legacy of her training at the Queensland Conservatorium. Miller-Heidke graduated from Griffith’s Queensland Conservatorium in 2002 with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in classical voice. Queensland Conservatorium Director Professor Scott Harrison said the Con had produced many remarkable vocalists who had transformed the Australian music scene—from Dami Im to Katie Noonan and Megan Washington. ‘She is a classically-trained singer but her crossover appeal is immense, and it is no surprise to me or her former teachers that she has gone on to wow audiences around the globe.’
