Your graduation occurs when the Dean of the Griffith Graduate Research School approves the conferral of your award. This means conferral often occurs outside graduation ceremony rounds, but you will automatically be invited to attend the next available graduation ceremony.

After submitting your thesis, please follow the below steps and note as a Higher Degree Research student you will not have access to the online graduation status page; please ignore any references to checking your graduation status.

Wait for an email from the Thesis Examinations Office confirming the conferral of your award

Check your University Communication email to access your digital degree certificate, official academic transcript and AHEGS via My eQuals (usually within one week of the confirmation email from the Thesis Examinations Office)

6.

Receive your hard copy graduation certificate via registered mail (within Australia) or express courier (overseas)

Ceremonies

E-invitations containing the registration link will be sent to University Communication email addresses approximately three - five weeks before the ceremony, subject to you being conferred by that time.

If you would like to attend a graduation ceremony after your award has been conferred, please register as follows:

  • July ceremonies: Unfortunately, our July graduation ceremonies have been cancelled due to COVID-19. Information about future graduation ceremonies will be posted on our website as early as possible.
  • December ceremonies: between Monday 16 November and 5 pm Thursday 26 November (TBC).
