How AI can help

Using the relevant prompts below as a guide, you can use chat-based AI tools to provide examples and inspiration for almost all aspects of preparing for your career.

To get started:

  1. Go to an AI chat platform such as Microsoft Copilot and sign in. You can sign in to Microsoft Copilot using your Griffith student email and password, which will allow you to ask more questions.
  2. Type a prompt into the chat window to start a conversation.

How the AI works

When you ask a question, the tool processes your text to make sure it's something it can help with. Then, using an advanced AI model, it will generate a response, which may also include information found on the internet by the AI. Overall, AI is best used as a research enabler rather than a research replacement.

Chat prompts

Generating career ideas

Exploring roles

Researching companies, industries and fields

Finding work experience and extra-curricular activities

Crafting an elevator pitch/personal brand

Curating your LinkedIn profile

Refining your resume

Searching for jobs

Creating a cover letter

Preparing for interview questions

Making the most of AI chat interactions

Be specific with your prompts as this will generate better responses.

For example, instead of asking “Can you help me write a cover letter?", try “Can you help me prepare a cover letter applying for a data analyst role using the following selection criteria" and include the selection criteria in your prompt.

Keep in mind

Even though AI is constantly evolving, the responses it produces are generic and will not be personalised or tailored to you and your experiences.

You should only use AI-generated responses as an initial guide that you then develop and improve in order to get the best outcome when preparing for your career.
