Student Experience of Course and Teaching surveys

Griffith is committed to delivering quality Learning and Teaching. The experience@Griffith system is used to collect student feedback, which enables staff to improve course design and teaching practices.

Students are asked to give valuable feedback on their experience with their courses and teachers at the end of the trimester.

Every survey a student completes enters them into the prize draw to win a share of $25,000 every year.

What students need to know

The Course and Teaching surveys are your opportunity to make a real difference to your experience at Griffith.

The surveys open in Week 11 and reports are released during exam week.

The surveys are online, mobile-friendly and you can nominate teachers for an award, if they have added their Teaching survey (SET).

Every course survey you complete enters you into the draw to win a share of a cash prize pool of $10,000 in Trimesters 1 and 2, and $5,000 in Trimester 3.

Your responses are confidential. Staff receive reports in a class summary, which pulls all responses for a survey together. They do not have access to individual responses or any student data.

The only way a teacher can identify you, is if you mention something in your comments which allows them to recognise you. For example, if you mentioned a specific incident, or repeat something you have said to the staff member in person before.

When giving written feedback, remember to be professional and constructive. Focus on how the course was delivered and taught, steer clear of personal comments.

What staff need to know

It is important to remember Course surveys (SEC) are sent to students automatically for almost all courses but Teaching surveys (SET) must be added by course convenors and teachers each time they are needed.

Boost your response rates using the resources provided under Get Involved.

System-sourced reports are available within three business days of a survey closing.

Survey results are incorporated into academic profile reports and academic staff are encouraged to consider SEC and SET results as part of the annual course and program review process. Additional support is available through Learning Futures.
