Griffith University Athletics Track works (update: April 2026)
Upcoming repair works will be taking place at the Gold Coast campus running track to address localised surface defects. Works are being carried out to reduce trip hazards and maintain safe use of the facility. The works will be limited to the damaged areas of the track.
Works scheduled for 28 April to 8 May 2026 have been rescheduled due to inclement weather.
Works are now due to take place between 18 May and 25 May 2026 (weather dependent)
During the works:
- Only the sections under repair will be barricaded and unavailable
- The remainder of the running track will stay open for use
- Access to the infield grass area will remain available for approved activities
- Temporary fencing, signage and contractor presence will be in place
- Minor noise and activity may be noticeable in the immediate area
The facility remains user pays and track fees can be paid at G45 Aquatic Centre.
While the works are being completed, we ask users to be mindful of contractors and others accessing the space and make adjustments to activities, as required.
The facility remains unable to accommodate athletics carnivals or largescale bookings.

Griffith University is committed to maintaining the running track and athletics areas at the Gold Coast particularly with the important role athletics will play in the lead up to the Olympic Games in 2032. We are working with stakeholders to lock in the facility’s long-term viability. We are expecting the planned upgrade will mean the facility will be closed during the upgrade but all coaches will receive significant notice of any planned closure.
