Financial assistance to help cover postgraduate tuition fees

Griffith Business School’s Postgraduate Business Next Step Scholarship is for commencing and continuing students studying a graduate certificate or masters program hosted by the Griffith Business School.

This scholarship provides support for students affected by different types of educational disadvantage (financial hardship, educational disruption, disability, or others) that has impacted their ability to achieve their full potential.

To be eligible, you must:

  • be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder, or New Zealand citizen
  • be currently enrolled in, or be eligible for admission to commence in 2024, a masters or graduate certificate program hosted by the Griffith Business School (excludes all Open University Australia (OUA) programs)
  • not be in receipt of another scholarship or bursary funded by the Griffith Business School.

Application assessment

Applicants will be ranked according to the universities comprehensive Educational Disadvantage Assessment (EDA). Information provided by individuals in their Griffith online scholarship application is assessed and ranked in accordance with the following Educational Disadvantage Assessment categories:

  • Financial hardship
  • Home environment and responsibilities
  • English language difficulty
  • Personal illness and disability
  • Educational disruption
  • Relocation within Australia.

Value

The Postgraduate Business Next Step Scholarship has a maximum value of $10,000 paid in instalments. Payments will be in instalments to the recipient's nominated bank account:

  • two instalments of $4,000 and two kick-starter payments of $1,000.

To ease the financial burden of students with initial expenses of the trimester, commencing and returning students who have accepted their scholarship offer and are enrolled for the upcoming trimester three weeks before Orientation Week will receive an early instalment payment of $1,000 from their scholarship prior to orientation for a maximum of two trimesters (instalment amounts are based on full-time study load, payments may be pro-rata for part -time study).

Payment

Payments are made directly to the recipients' nominated bank account up to six weeks after the census date of each trimester, subject to satisfying scholarship terms and conditions.

Please note payments made to those studying part-time may be taxable.

Applicants must meet the below terms and conditions to receive payment:

  • Accept and enrol in the postgraduate Business School program by the close of enrolment in their commencing trimester of study.
  • Maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.5 (on 7.0 scale).
  • Seek approval from the Business School prior to taking a leave of absence.
  • Gain approval from the Business School for any cross-institutional study.
  • Cannot be in receipt of any other scholarship or bursary funded by Griffith Business School.

This scholarship is only valid for trimester courses that fall under the Business School program. It excludes Open University Australia (OUA) programs and courses.

Recipients agree to participate in reasonable promotional activity related to the scholarship, at the school’s request.
