Support for veterans commencing undergraduate study

The Astute Electronics Veteran Student Scholarship has been established to reward and encourage excellence.

It will be available to students across the full range of undergraduate study areas at Griffith University and those registered with the Veteran Student Success Program.

Scholarship details

To be eligible, you must:

  • be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder, or New Zealand citizen
  • be commencing or continuing at Griffith University in an undergraduate degree in the awarding trimester
  • have a minimum GPA 5.5 (continuing students only)
  • registered with the Veteran Student Success Program by the close date for scholarship application

Shortlisted applicants may be contacted for additional information regarding the details of your service. Priority will be given to students not in receipt of other scholarship funding.

Value

The scholarship has a maximum value is $5,000. The trimester instalment amount is calculated on enrolled credit points per trimester, being $625 per 10 credit points, up to the maximum value of the scholarship.

Please note payments made whilst part-time study may be taxable.

Subject to approval by the donor, the scholarship may continue for an additional period, up to three years. The continuation of the scholarship is at the discretion of the donor and is subject to the recipient meeting the terms and conditions of the scholarship for each applicable year. Recipients will be notified in writing of the outcome each applicable year.

Payment

Payments are made up to three weeks after the census date, subject to recipients satisfying the scholarship’s terms and conditions.

To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must:

  • remain enrolled in the degree for which the scholarship was awarded
  • maintain a minimum GPA 5.5.

The above conditions are verified each trimester at census date. If a scholarship recipient fails to successfully meet these conditions, it is at the discretion of the Scholarship selection panel to withhold the trimester instalment or terminate the scholarship.

Recipients may be invited to meet with the donor and be featured in marketing materials to promote the scholarship.

A scholarship recipient may take leave of absence in accordance with university policy. Scholarship benefits are suspended for the period of leave of absence.

Applications, including supporting documentation, must be completed and submitted by the closing date.

Applicants may be shortlisted and be required to provide additional information.

Griffith University reserves the right to withdraw an advertised scholarship at any time.
