Connecting people to contribute to a sustainable future

Alongside climate action research, the Climate Action Beacon supports Graduate Certificate, Masters and higher degree researchers in connecting with experts, communities and industry. In 2023 a Young Researcher Development Program was supported.

Doctoral Training Program and Fellowships

For PhD candidates and Griffith University researchers, the Climate Action Beacon offers a training program and also an opportunity to apply for a fellowship. Both of these provide researchers the opportunity to have access to Climate Action Beacon experts across the University and access to our extensive network of industry, government and community partners.

Master of Climate Change Adaptation

The Master of Climate Change Adaptation is designed to give professionals from any background a sound interdisciplinary knowledge of climate change, the ability to analyse its impacts, and the creative skills needed to build resilience across society and the environment. This includes the ability to develop and deploy adaptation strategies to protect communities, businesses, government agencies, infrastructure, and natural assets.

Graduate Certificate in Climate Change Adaptation

As a student in the Graduate Certificate program, you will be empowered to get involved in improving the planning of urban areas, providing better services to the public to improve wellbeing. In the process, you'll support the transformation of economic development, the creation of new management plans to conserve biodiversity, the development of treaties to protect major earth systems, and more.

Local government climate risk management micro-credential

Local councils are at the heart of the community. Proactively managing climate risk through adaptation and transitioning to a net zero economy, can not only help to respond and manage climate risk, but also take advantage of the opportunities that arise from a changing climate. This course will provide foundational knowledge and build staff capability for climate risk management for local governments.

Young Researcher Development Program

The Climate Action Beacon was awarded a Youth Research Grant from the Queensland Government Department of Environment and Science to develop eight research projects as part of Griffith's Young Researcher Development Program.
