Support for students relocating from the Bundaberg region
The purpose of the Carl and Ruth Neilson Cultural Trust Scholarships is to provide support for high-achieving students
who have or will relocate from the Bundaberg region to study at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.
The scholarship will help mitigate financial and social challenges associated with locating to and studying in Brisbane.

Scholarship details
To be eligible, you must:
- be offered and accepted to study at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU), commencing full-time study, in an undergraduate music degree
- be relocating from the Bundaberg region in Queensland (the University uses the Australian Bureau of Statistics Map)
- be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, permanent humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen
- not be in receipt of any other Griffith University scholarship that serves the same core purpose.

Value
The scholarship has a maximum value of $10,000 payable in two instalments. Instalments of $5,000 are payable in Trimester 1 and 2 provided conditions are met.
Payments
Payments are made up to three weeks after the census date subject to satisfying scholarship terms and conditions.
To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must:
- remain enrolled full-time in the approved Griffith University program at census date
- maintain a minimum GPA of 4.5
A scholarship recipient may take leave of absence in accordance with university procedure. Scholarship benefits are suspended for the period of leave of absence or deferment. Deferment of this scholarship will only be allowed if the request for deferment is based on medical reasons for the recipient or their immediate family for up to one year. Deferment is conditional on approval to defer both your tertiary place and the scholarship.
Recipients may be invited to meet with the donor and feature in marketing materials to promote the scholarship.
The above conditions are verified each trimester at census date. If a scholarship recipient fails to successfully meet these conditions, scholarship payments may be withheld, or the scholarship may be terminated.

Griffith University reserves the right to withdraw an advertised scholarship at any time.
