This competition is open to emerging classical instrumental or vocal artists from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. Each classical department is to nominate its best student for the competition.

To be eligible for this award, you must be an emerging instrumental or vocal artist from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.
Competition rules
- Each department is to nominate their best student for this competition. The criteria for this nomination is performance ability and must take into account musicality, communication skills, style, and potential. The method of selecting individuals is to be decided by each department.
- The adjudication panel will consist of a nominee of The Brisbane Club, the Director (or nominee) and Heads of Departments (or nominees).
- The competitors are required to perform a 20-minute programme.
- The Brisbane Club Award: $8,000 (first prize).
- The Jim Massie Memorial Prize: $2,500 (runner-up prize).
