Support to travel interstate for auditions

This prize will be awarded to a third-year musical theatre student to assist with interstate travel costs to attend auditions.

Competition details

To be eligible for this award, you must:

  • be enrolled in the third year of the Musical Theatre program at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University
  • be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or hold an Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa (or its equivalent)
  • not have a family home (parent or guardian) in either Sydney or Melbourne
  • not hold any other Griffith University scholarship that serves the same core purpose
  • demonstrate reasonable financial need.

Selection process

You must complete the application form in full, including:

  • documentation of financial need (e.g. Centrelink, ATO Assessment Notices or any formal documentation you see fit. You may also provide a written statement regarding financial need to accompany documentation)
  • a written statement of no more than 400 words outlining your ambition and anticipated use of, and benefit from, the Award monies
  • second-year GPA and marking sheets from the ‘Musicale Performances’ to demonstrate high level of skill in singing, dancing and acting.

Applications will be assessed by the selection panel and a shortlist will be drawn up.

Shortlisted applicants will be judged by the selection panel for their performance and professionalism in the annual mainstage performance and the annual end of year showcase.

The winner will be chosen based on their written application and live performance.

Candidates who do not submit all the relevant documentation listed in 6.1 above with their entry form will not qualify to take part in the competition.

The adjudication panel will be made up of:

  • the Head of Performing Arts or their selected representative
  • one outside professional involved in, or with extensive experience in, musical theatre
  • one donor or their selected representative.

Shortlisted applicants will be assessed during the mainstage musical production (Grease in 2021) and the annual end-of-year showcase.
