Yuwahn Wupin

"Yuwahn Wupin" from Yugambeh language translates to "culturally able". Yuwahn Wupin has been designed and informed by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Curriculum Framework. The Framework is nationally recognised to ensure student learning is focused, as “improved healthcare outcomes for Australia's First Peoples requires health professionals to be both clinically and culturally capable” (Department of Health, 2016).

Yuwahn Wupin (culturally able)

Course overview

Yuwahn Wupin is comprised of five modules. Each module aligns with the five interconnected cultural capabilities of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Curriculum Framework. Refer to the image below.

The model is based on the principles that:

  • the ultimate delivery goal is to enable better health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
