What’s new at Griffith

There are plenty of positive changes coming to Griffith—from updated pathways and admissions requirements to fresh degrees and diplomas. Here’s what you need to know to support your students’ success.

General updates for Trimester 1, 2025 entry

Vertical double degrees

In addition to our range of undergraduate double degrees, we now offer a selection of vertical double degrees, comprising an undergraduate and postgraduate component.

As well as allowing students to graduate faster and pay less than if they completed both components separately, these new degrees may also improve earning potential and career advancement.

Guaranteed entry adjustments

We’ve now set more nuanced guaranteed ranks for most of our degrees to provide some certainty for your students when applying. These are the ranks to which we will commence making offers to at the opening of the cycle, or when that program is offered. Some degrees may be set a little higher at the start, until the minimum selection rank for admission is determined in the major offer round for that degree. For more information visit Guaranteed Admission.

The major offer round for Creative and Performing Arts degrees is December and for most other programs the major offer round in QTAC or UAC is in mid-January.

Major rounds are published on the Degree entry on QTAC.

For further information on when we are commencing making offers in QTAC visit Course offer dates and vacancy information on the Key Dates page. This page will also be regularly updated post main rounds with course vacancy information.

For information on which UAC offer rounds Griffith participates visit the UAC site.

Year 12 Early Offer Guarantee extended to include VET and Griffith Head Start (GUESTS) qualifications

Along with Queensland and Northern NSW Year 12 students completing their ATAR or IB Diploma, students who have, or are soon to complete, a VET qualification or have successfully completed a Griffith Head Start (GUESTS) course will now also be eligible for an early offer.

New pathway: EmpowerEd University Preparation Program

EmpowerEd provides a pathway for applicants who don't meet the admission requirements for an undergraduate degree at Griffith.

In this free program, students will have the opportunity to experience university life while they build their confidence and academic study skills.

Students gain fundamental knowledge and skills—including the essentials of critical reading, writing and referencing—in a supportive learning environment.

Griffith University Head Start Program

Formerly known as GUESTS

This program gives high achieving Year 11 and 12 students an opportunity to accelerate their tertiary studies by completing a course (subject) at Griffith while still at high school.

By successfully completing the program, students can earn credit for up to two courses, applied when they commence their undergraduate studies at Griffith, as well as two (2.00) adjustments towards their ATAR when they apply to eligible Griffith undergraduate degrees.

Upon a student’s successful completion of a Head Start program and their Year 12 studies, they’ll also be eligible for an offer to study one of more than 100+ single and double degrees across a range of study areas.

New Medical Science adjustment factors

From T1, 2025 incremental adjustments will be available for applicants for the Bachelor of Medical Science. This includes adjustments for location (0.05 points), those assessed as part of the Educational Access Scheme (between 0.05 and 0.10 points) and adjustments for those in areas deemed to be living in rural areas ‘rural’ by QTAC.

These incremental adjustments are cumulative, so you will benefit from all that you are eligible for. The maximum incremental adjustment for a Bachelor of Medical Science application is 0.20 points.

Please note that these incremental adjustments apply to your selection ranking (ie ATAR), not to your UCAT ANZ Total Score if you have sat this test. Location adjustments based on post code are automatically applied, however Educational Access Scheme and Rurality require applicants to provide additional information.
