Applications for the 2023 Department of Education Turn to Teaching Internship Program (TTT Program) are open.

The Department of Education Turn to Teaching Internship Program (TTT Program) will provide aspiring teachers with financial support while they complete their post-graduate studies. Run through the Queensland Government Department of Education, the program is open to students eligible for enrolment into one of the following Griffith University postgraduate degrees:

The Department of Education advises that successful applicants will receive a scholarship payment of $20,000 (taxed) in their first year of full-time postgraduate study and full-time paid employment in an internship position at a Queensland state school with a reduced workload (50%) while completing their second year of postgraduate study. The Turn to Teaching internship program runs as a two year full time degree. Successful graduates can apply to the Department of Education for a permanent teaching position in a priority subject area or region.

Completing an internship in a Queensland state school will provide you with additional classroom experience while you study, building your confidence to commence your teaching career with the Department of Education. Additionally, you will be engaged in a supportive and diverse school community and have an opportunity to work in a priority teaching area, or live and work in a rural or remote location.

How to apply

  1. Apply for the internship program by 3 October 2022.*
  2. Apply via QTAC for entry to the Master of Primary Teaching or Master of Secondary Teaching by 13 February 2023.

Master of Secondary Teaching

If you are a graduate from a non-education background, perhaps seeking a career change, and wish to teach in secondary school settings, this new degree will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge you need to register with the QCT. You can choose to accelerate your studies over 1.5 years or study full-time over two years. If you choose the accelerated option you will be able to apply for registration six months earlier than graduates from other universities.
