1. Review your program requirements
Examine the structure and course requirements of your intended program to identify potential courses where your experience may align. Use the search bar on Programs and courses to find your degree and its courses.
You can also log in to MyGriffith to check your study plan.
2. Understand the Learning Outcomes
Course Learning Outcomes (Specified Credit) - Thoroughly review the Learning Outcomes of the course you're seeking credit for. This will help you to identify the specific knowledge and skills you need to demonstrate. Choose the most recent offering if your trimester of study isn't listed yet.
Program Learning Outcomes (Unspecified Credit) - Where permitted in your program, you can also apply for credit towards electives if you can demonstrate that your experience meets the Program Learning Outcomes. Go to the Requirements tab for your program to view the Program Learning Outcomes for this award.
3. Match your experience to Outcomes
Map your experiences against each Learning Outcome. Focus on both the knowledge and skills listed and show that you have used the knowledge listed in the context of your work or experience. For example, if a Learning Outcome is about project management for technology implementation, highlight specific digital projects you've managed, detailing your role and the skills you utilised.
Use clear examples - Describe specific tasks, responsibilities, and achievements or outcomes in your professional roles. These should directly relate to the Learning Outcomes.
- Provide dates and timelines "In January 2025..."; "Over 4 years as an SES volunteer trainer...".
- List specific technologies or frameworks you used "I regularly use Adobe InDesign to..."; "My team uses agile project management to keep track of our work schedule...".
Quantify your achievements - Where possible, use numbers to quantify your achievements "I managed a team of 10 people to complete a project 20% under budget and two weeks ahead of schedule".
Reflect on your learning - Reflect on what you learned from your professional (and other) experiences and how it applies to the course or program content. This shows a deeper understanding and connection to the Learning Outcomes.
Tip: AI tools like Copilot or ChatGPT can help identify overlaps between your experience and Learning Outcomes, but always verify AI-generated content for accuracy.
4. Provide evidence
Relevant documentation should be provided to support your claims:
- your CV and detailed position descriptions
- Employer or organisational references (see exemplar)
Additional evidence may include, but is not limited to, performance reviews, certifications, or samples of your professional work (e.g., creative portfolio, publications, websites you've designed).
Do not provide confidential or commercial in confidence materials.
