Study government and international relations at Griffith
Studying government and international relations at Griffith will prepare you to be a socially responsible business leader with a deep understanding of global affairs. It will help you make sense of the forces that drive economic, social and political change and give you the critical reasoning skills needed to respond to these changes and make a real difference in the world. You'll gain insights into policy, politics and power in the modern world, and the forces that shape these dynamics at the global and domestic levels. You'll learn about business-government relations, political institutions and processes, as well as foreign policy and globalisation.
Internationally recognised expertise
Griffith has ranked in the world’s top 100 for political and international studies and has a world-class staff of political experts in areas ranging from nuclear security to threats to democracy, from the key issues in Asia, Europe and the United States to the challenges facing policy-makers in Australia and abroad.
You will be taught by political thought-leaders whose work informs the practice of governance and public policy both nationally and globally. Our politics and international relations courses focus on what matters now and into the future. You'll learn what's important and have the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond better than anyone else.
Learn through experience
Through our strong local and global connections with industry we’ll prepare you for the workforce through important practical experience like an internship or project course. Rub shoulders with industry and academic experts at the Policy Innovation Hub. Put what you learn into practice working with organisations including not-for-profits, media outlets, trade unions, parliament and local councils.
Gain a global perspective and expertise in the Asia-Pacific region through a New Colombo Plan Scholarships and student mobility program. You can also study overseas through an internship or semester exchange with Griffith’s own Global Mobility programs.
AACSB accredited
Griffith Business School is an accredited member of AACSB International which means our business degrees are internationally recognised for excellence and outstanding business education. It’s the most prestigious accreditation a business school can earn.
Kent Chambers
Kent Chambers secured a prestigious graduate position as a Policy Officer with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Canberra after completing an international relations and business double degree at Griffith. He was an ideal candidate for the position with his combined experience from an internship with Deloitte Australia and an overseas exchange to Argentina. Through his role with Veteran Affairs, Kent has gained a greater understanding of the impact of legislation and budget processes on the defence force. 'It is rewarding and makes it easy to go to work every day knowing that the work I do has a direct impact on people, albeit in a small way.'
