Offering the advice you need, when you need it

At various times during the year, you may receive a phone call from a Griffith Mentor.

These calls are just another way that Griffith offers support to students at various times during their studies—with a friendly call from a fellow student to check in and offer timely advice.

What to expect

Calls from Griffith Mentors are made to the phone number listed in your myGriffith, so it's always a good idea to make sure your contact details are up to date.

When you receive a call from a Griffith Mentor, the number will display as coming from Southport, Queensland.

At the start of the call, the Griffith Mentor will explain they are calling to have a quick chat about your studies and to see if we can provide any support, before checking if it's a good time to talk.

The Griffith Mentor will also ask for your full name, student ID or s number before continuing. Our Mentors conduct this brief privacy check to ensure they only share confidential information with the correct person.

Griffith Mentors may reach out at various times during your studies. For instance, you might get a call from a Mentor in the few weeks leading up to the start of a new trimester, whether you are just about start a new program, or perhaps returning to study after a break.

During these calls, Mentors can chat with you about things you might need at that time, such as advice about the enrolment process and preparing for a new trimester of study.

You might also get a call during the trimester, just as an opportunity to chat with a Mentor about how you're going as well as strategies for managing your study.

Mentors may also connect you with other Griffith services that might be of value to you.

Remember, Mentors are students like you, so they will often refer you to the people who are experts for specific issues.

Keen to chat now, rather than wait for a call?

You can request a call at any time during the trimester. A Griffith Mentor will call you within a few days (during teaching weeks only).
