Accessing Instruments, Services and Training through iLabs

Griffith Analytical Facility offers services to university research groups and external bodies, ranging from basic technical support to commercial research. Specialist staff are available to carry out work, or qualified users may apply to access equipment. The booking and managing system for these instrumental services is found in iLabs. There are a number of ways equipment can be accessed through iLabs.

iLab

Pre-book for Trained Users

Once induction and training is complete for the relevant research space and equipment., that piece of equipment will be available for direct booking (via "View Schedule" button or "Reservations" tab) by the trained user.

Walk Up for Trained Users

Once induction and training is complete for the relevant research space and equipment, a range of equipment can also be booked in an ad-hoc fashion, where you may walk up to the equipment and use it if it is free (i.e. not booked or in use by another researcher) simply by starting a session in the iLab Kiosk. Most equipment like this will have either a QR code on it which will take a mobile device straight to the kiosk, or there will be an iPad in the area for this use.

Operator Assisted for All Users

You are able to ask for a technical officer to assist with the use of most equipment and in some cases will be the only way to request use. To do this click on the "Assisted Use" button in the equipment description within iLabs.

Sample Submission

For this type of equipment you may supply samples to a technical officer to process for you. There are custom forms for each of this type of equipment which allow you to detail the testing you require and reporting you need back. Prior to submitting your samples, please click on the relevant button in the equipment description within iLabs.
