Create, Challenge, and Inspire
Our courses are designed to foster creativity, build confidence, and develop new skills. Whether through printmaking, songwriting and storytelling, jewellery, or drawing, these courses provide a supportive space and environment for Mosaic students to engage and learn.
Thinking and making through Print
An introduction to the possibilities that printmaking holds through relief printing and the labour of making. Understanding print as a mode of inquiry that will focus on fundamental techniques and material engagement that leads to open, unexpected combinations and mark making with the emergence of unforeseen graphic relationships.
Songwriting & Storytelling II
This course explores introductory storytelling concepts through the art of songwriting. Practical activities and mentoring will help you explore different steps in the creative process of songwriting, including song structure and framing your ‘story’, developing your lyrical ideas, and effective communication of your message. This course is open to anyone interested in songwriting, whether you’ve written a song before or not! It is also open to those who did the first 'Songwriting & Storytelling' class, to build on previous knowledge to further develop your songwriting skillset.
Thinking Jewellery
Jewellery that is worn on the body can create connections and play a significant part of identity. It is a valuable form of expression. This course introduces the foundational techniques and processes that are unique to using metal as material. The students will consider the concept of connections to make objects that can be worn on the body; this may be the relationships to people, the environment, the media, the tools or materials.
Drawing and Mystery
This course introduces speculative approaches to drawing that link to mystery, intuition and the unseen. Students will learn about occult and esoteric traditions through art history, investigating how symbolism, materials and chance can shape drawings that connect to embodiment and environment. We will experiment with visualisation strategies that engage and extend conventional approaches to drawing, while incorporating speculative and emergent processes. Emphasis is placed on drawing as exploration, where ideas develop through material engagement and practice.
