Healthcare environments are under intense pressure to focus on service delivery and accountability and are in critical need of innovative ways of working.

Leading Health Services Innovation is a bespoke program designed in partnership with Metro North Health to support its workforce innovate, transform and lead improvements in the health sector.

This program is designed specifically for middle managers, and emerging change leaders, including clinicians and health service administrators.

Depending on your learning goals there are several options for engaging with Leading Health Services Innovation.

Option 1 - Graduate Certificate in Health Services Innovation

    This postgraduate program combines elements of leadership, facilitating innovation, and achieving successful implementation of new ways of working.  Delivered part-time over two years, this graduate certificate is offered in a blended learning mode, combining online, face-to-face and self-directed learning modes. The program includes:

    • 4 university courses that contain assessment. View the graduate certificate course profile page
    • student membership with the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM)
    • an annual conference and three roundtable discussions with guest lecturer presentations from health service executives and industry experts

Option 2: Leading health service innovation micro-credentials

Not ready to take the step to apply to be part of the postgraduate program just yet?  You might like to consider the Leading Health Services Innovation micro-credentials which will commence in 2024 (subject to approval by Griffith University), and are smaller pieces of learning, covering the topics of:

  • Leading innovation
  • Relationship management through innovation
  • Leading an innovative culture
  • Health economic evaluation
  • Understanding and applying economic concepts and principles
  • Budgetary impact assessment to support development of business cases

These micro-credentials will be self-funded and endorsed by Metro North for those not ready/not selected to enrol in the Graduate Certificate in Health Services Innovation.

On completion of a micro-credential, learners will be awarded a digital badge. When bundled appropriately, these micro-credentials may provide credit towards 1 or 2 courses in the Graduate Certificate in Health Services Innovation.

Pathways for Leading Health Service Innovation

Further study pathways exist for students who complete options 1 or 2 in the Leading Health Services Innovation program.

Completing a bundle of micro-credentials (Option 2) may provide recognition of prior learning which could be used for credit in  the Graduate Certificate of Health Services Innovation.
