Located in the heart of Brisbane's vibrant South Bank cultural precinct, the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University sits alongside leading arts organisations including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Theatre, Brisbane Festival, Opera Queensland and Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC). Within this rich cultural setting - and in a city known for its strong live music and arts culture - the Conservatorium builds connections across Queensland with major institutions, independent artists, organisations and regional communities.
Positioned on the lands of the Turrbal and Yuggera peoples, the Conservatorium acknowledges the deep cultural and musical traditions of First Nations communities and is committed to embedding Indigenous perspectives and fostering meaningful collaborations across teaching, performance, and research activities. This commitment is reflected in the contributions of recent First Nations PhD candidates, partnerships with guest performers, composers, songwriters, and community collaborators, and the ongoing development of a growing collection of First Nations music within our library.

Industry partnerships
Students at QCGU have the opportunity to work side-by-side with leading artists, educators and organisations. They could be on stage with Queensland Symphony Orchestra, on air with 4MBS, performing in the Brisbane Festival, in a masterclass with Opera Queensland, playing with Australian String Quartet, collaborating with Bleach Festival and so much more.
Community engagement
Our largest community engagement hub, Open Conservatorium, connects staff and students with schools across the state, performance opportunities in hospitals, and regional tours and workshops that reflect the diversity of our artistic practices. These community partnerships provide meaningful opportunities to develop leadership, participation and engagement skills that make a meaningful impact in communities across the state.

Learn from and perform with the world's best
Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University has served music lovers in Queensland and beyond for over half a century. In addition to producing some stellar performers and composers who have graced the stages of Carnegie Hall, Covent Garden, and the Concertgebouw, it has launched composers into careers ranging from Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra to Bluey and Hollywood blockbusters. It has also nurtured others who have found their way into recording, teaching, or working with communities.
In 2023 the Queensland Conservatorium partnered with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, QANTAS Founders Museum, Griffith Film School and Queensland College of Art and Design to deliver a spectacular creative arts experience in outback Queensland, featuring a concert, community workshops and professional development.
Dami Im (QCGU graduate, Griffith University Honorary Doctorate and multi-platinum selling recording artist) performs her acclaimed rendition of Sound of Silence with the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University String Quartet in this special performance recorded for the 2020 Griffith University Alumni Awards. Music supervision and string preparation by Professor Peter Morris, with arrangements by Associate Professor Steve Newcomb.

Facilities and venues
The Conservatorium boasts performance spaces that are the envy of the entire nation. The Conservatorium Theatre is widely regarded as one of the best acoustic venues in the country, and hosts over 200 concerts and performances a year from symphony orchestra to opera, chamber music to rock and musical theatre to awards nights.
The Ian Hanger Recital Hall, open Courtyard and Foyer spaces are central to its engagement with the community. These venues support a diverse program encompassing classical, jazz, contemporary and cross-cultural performance.
Alongside professional recording and production facilities, our venues provide a platform for artistic exchange that reflects the full spectrum of Queensland's musical life.
