Open Conservatorium is housed within Queensland Conservatorium, which is in the heart of Brisbane's premier arts precinct alongside the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), ABC, Opera Queensland, Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Queensland College of Art. Our facilities are among the music industry's finest – acoustically, architecturally and technologically.
With access to leading music educators, musicians and composers with international experience and outlook, you will learn music in an environment that enables you to flourish.
Programs and opportunities
Early Childhood Music
Join a musical learning environment for infants to children, up to seven years of age, in partnership with parents or caregivers. The musical growth of your child is developed through enjoyable and supportive classes, promoting a lifelong love of music.
State Honours Ensemble Program
In partnership with schools across Queensland, the State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) connects the finest young musicians with a team of eminent international and national conductors in a pursuit of musical excellence.
Young Conservatorium
Primary and secondary students can undertake musical training, drawing on the skills, expertise and excellence of the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.
Adult Education
Advance your music skills with adult courses in composition, creative music technology, voice and instruments—designed for beginners through to advanced musicians.
Study at your own pace with expert guidance from Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University staff.

Score it
Queensland’s leading high school film scoring competition invites students to compose an original score for an animation created by Griffith Film School students. Emerging composers can receive feedback and guidance from Conservatorium academics and alumni, with the most promising submissions receiving a live performance with film by the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra.
Tertiary Preparation Workshops
Stand out at your audition with our Tertiary Preparation Workshop. Designed for high school and mature-age applicants, this program helps you prepare for the theoretical and practical requirements of university music auditions.
The workshop is held annually during the June/July school holidays.
Live Music Agency
Whatever the style of your event - from an intimate gathering to a lavish affair - our versatile, Queensland Conservatorium trained musicians provide a memorable soundtrack to every occasion. Our soloists and ensembles have performed to widespread acclaim across a range of musical genres from Classical and Vocal to Latin and Jazz.
