Queensland Conservatorium houses several incredibly versatile, state-of-the-art performance venues that host hundreds of live events per year.
Conservatorium Theatre
Queensland Conservatorium is home to a world-class theatre that has played host to opera, dance, musical theatre productions as well as chamber and orchestral concerts.
Featuring a 17-metre-high moveable sound shell, providing world class acoustics, a 20-metre fly-tower for scenery, and a professional team of technical and venue staff, Conservatorium Theatre provides students with the experience of being part of professional productions and ensembles. Suitable for all types of performances from ensembles as large as symphony orchestras in 'Concert Mode' (sound shell forward), or in 'Lyric Mode' (sound shell back) for opera, ballet, dance and theatre. The Conservatorium Theatre can accommodate between 615 and 721 patrons, giving audiences a chance to witness the stars of the future.
Ian Hanger Recital Hall
Situated within the Conservatorium, the Ian Hanger Hall is a 200‑seat venue ideal for piano, small chamber, jazz and pop performances, as well as lectures. It is fully equipped with AV, projection, and lighting capabilities. The space also accommodates theatre, bands, and cabaret and is the permanent home of a 9‑foot Steinway Grand and a Shigeru Kawai SK‑7 piano.

Our venues are home first and foremost to our teaching and learning activities. We also welcome enquiries for event hire, providing a range of performance, workshop and event spaces no matter the scale or occasion.
