Interim Head of School
Associate Professor Robert Mason
Associate Professor Robert (Robbie) Mason is Interim Head of the School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science at Griffith University.
Robbie’s research examines museum and heritage practices relating to coloniality, violence and interculturality across the Indo-Pacific and Pacific Rim, particularly in societies navigating the enduring legacies of historical and colonial violence. Working across Mexico, Peru, the Philippines and India, he has developed a distinctive comparative approach to the heritage politics of Iberian colonialism, demonstrating how colonial pasts continue to shape contemporary violence and social inequality. He also researches the histories and heritage of colonialism in Australia, with a particular focus on cultural diversity. His work involves close collaboration with collecting institutions, government agencies and community partners. Robbie is a full international member of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and the International Council of Museums (ICOM). He is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
He has held leadership roles within Griffith University for more than five years, including as Deputy Head of School (Research) and Deputy Head of School (Learning and Teaching). Before joining Griffith University in 2015, Robbie worked at the University of Southern Queensland, Swinburne University of Technology, and the University of Queensland.

Associate Professor Peter Denney is the Deputy Head of School (Learning and Teaching). He is a cultural historian of eighteenth-century Britain and an award-winning teacher.

Adele Pavlidis is the Director for the Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research. Her research is focused on feminist theoretical and methodological contributions to sport, wellbeing, and organisational cultures.
