The School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science proudly hosts world-class researchers in a diverse range of specialist fields. We are internationally renowned for our strengths in Chinese governance and the criminal justice system, Australian media and journalistic practice, Australian and international rock art, cultural sociology, transnational histories and Islamic studies.

Our research in the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities is ranked 49th in the world (CWTS Leiden Rankings (2015-2018).

HDR scholarships

We offer a range of generous scholarship programs that can cover tuition fees, living allowances paid as stipends, relocation and publication assistance. Scholarships are offered to domestic and international doctorate or masters by research applicants in two competitive application rounds each year.
