A reusable cup pilot on the Gold Coast Campus

Cercle Cup is a new reusable cup pilot making it easier to choose reuse and reduce single-use waste on the Gold Coast campus.

The idea is simple: if you forget your keep cup, ask for a Cercle Cup at a participating café, enjoy your coffee, then return it to any Drop Pod on campus when you’re done.

The pilot will run from July to October 2026 during Trimester 2. It is delivered by Griffith Sustainability and Campus Life in partnership with Cercle and ISS, with support from the Griffith Student Guild.

How it works

1

Ask for a Cercle cup at a participating cafe

2

Place the $3 temporary hold fee

3

Enjoy your drink

4

Return your cup to the Cercle drop pods

5

Get your $3 hold released once your cup has been cleaned and scanned

Staff and students can ask for an 8 oz or 12 oz Cercle Cup when ordering at a participating café, enjoy their drink in class or in the office, then return it to any blue Drop Pod on campus when they are done.

To help keep Cercle Cups in circulation, a $3 temporary hold applies each time you use one. The hold is released once your cup is returned and scanned by the cleaning team as part of the daily collection and washing process.
