Study Safe on campus

Griffith is committed to providing a safe on-campus environment for our community. The Nathan and Gold Coast campus libraries and Mount Gravatt Student lounge operate 24/7 to provide students with a safe, secure after-hours study space.

Get after-hours Study Safe access

After-hours building access is required for students and staff to enter the Study Safe areas at Nathan and Gold Coast  between 8 pm– 7 am or the Mount Gravatt areas between 5 pm– 9 am.  Building access will only be granted to people who are approved to access these areas after-hours. This measure ensures that the study space remains safe and secure for late-night visitors.

Any Griffith student can apply for building access by following the below process.

How to gain access

1. Complete a 24/7 Study Safe building access request

Study Safe Access Request

2. Once your building access request is processed, you will receive an email from Gallagher Security with two instructions:

  • Accept the building access invitation by clicking the "Accept Credential" button to link your building access to the mobile app. Further details on how to set up the Gallagher Mobile  Connect app can be found in this helpful step-by-step guide.

3. You will now have after-hours access to the Study Safe area. The building access points have Bluetooth readers that will connect to your mobile app when you are close to the reader and allow you to enter the building. If a mobile credential is not used for a continuous period of 6 months it will be disabled and will need to be re-enabled by the team at card-access@griffith.edu.au

Please note that your building access request may take up to 3 business days to be processed.

Closure of common-use computer lab

As a result of the student lounge's transition to 24/7 access, the Mount Gravatt M24 common-use computer lab has introduced new opening hours of 7 am - 7 pm.

Students wishing to study at the Mount Gravatt campus after 7 pm should do so in the M09 Student Lounge. Relocating to the Study Safe area will provide students with a secure location to continue their late-night study safely.
