Follow what Australians have been saying

Griffith University’s Climate Action big data research project built a custom dashboard to track twitter posts by Australians before, during and after the Conference of the Parties (COP 28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in 2023.

Applying big data analytics and expert analysis, the dashboard has been using key words to analyse Australian twitter feeds in close to real-time since 17 November 2023.

Temporal and Spatial Analysis

Heat map: depicts geographic distribution of tweets across Australia based on where Twitter users opened their accounts.

Bar chart: shows top 10 Twitter user locations based on where the account was opened.

Line chart: indicates number of posts by date.

Sentiment and Emotion Analysis

Distribution of sentiment polarity on a histogram (top left): shows the distribution of positive and negative sentiment values. The sentiment polarity is recorded on a scale of -1 to +1. Negative sentiment is from -1 to 0, and positive is from 0 to 1. Hover over the figures for further details.

Bar chart: illustrates the strength of the emotions. The higher the bar, the stronger the emotion.

Semantic Analysis

Frequent words appearing in tweets Illustrates key topics and overall tweet sentiment in Australia.
