Immerse yourself in a high-tech hub with more than 5000 years of culture and history

One of the leading producers of technical goods, the Republic of Korea is both modern and progressive, generating some of the world’s largest and most diversified companies.  A country of contrasts, our Global Interns witness first-hand the resilience of a nation that has transformed into a highly industrialised and internationally competitive economy, while at the same time honouring and preserving a rich history and fascinating past.

Student testimonial

Receiving the New Colombo Plan grant made it possible for me to spend six and a half weeks interning with EcoLinks in Seoul, and it was an experience that completely exceeded my expectations. EcoLinks is a start-up in Seoul’s innovation hub, and from day one I was trusted with meaningful responsibilities. I worked on projects that spanned Rwanda, South Africa, and Ethiopia, helping to develop sustainability frameworks that guide the company’s international operations. Seeing how decisions made in Seoul could directly affect projects thousands of kilometres away was both exciting and humbling.

Working in a start-up environment meant every day was different. I had to problem-solve quickly, coordinate with colleagues across multiple time zones, and adapt to fast-moving priorities. I remember one video call with team members in three countries, whereby the end we had found a solution I never thought I would be part of as an intern. Moments like that showed me what international business really looks like in practice.

Industry testimonial

During his internship with the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea, Griffith University student Tian Lane demonstrated maturity, adaptability and a strong willingness to learn. He approached his placement with genuine intellectual curiosity and an openness to feedback, which allowed him to develop steadily over the course of his time with us. Tian engaged thoughtfully with the work assigned to him and showed a clear interest in understanding not just the tasks themselves, but the broader organisational and business context in which we operate. A particularly notable quality was Tian’s strong social skills and pleasant demeanour. He integrated naturally into the team and built positive working relationships with colleagues. His professionalism in communication, combined with his approachable and respectful manner, made him a welcome presence in the workplace.

The Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea was pleased to host Tian and appreciates both the opportunity to support his professional development and our ongoing collaboration with Griffith University.
