Applying for funding

  1. Apply for funding with your respective Provincial Office in Canada. See our Canada page for links. Applications can be lodged online. Please review the "2024 Study Dates" section below to find what study dates the International Finance Office will use when certifying your student loan paperwork.
  2. Complete and submit your Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA). Your MSFAA comprises two loan contracts: one between yourself and the Government of Canada, and the other between yourself and your Provincial government. If you already have an approved MSFAA, you can skip this step of the application process.
  3. Notify the International Finance Office that you have lodged your loan application and require a program information form, Appendix 3 or other documentation completed and sent to your loan provider. Email us at: Ask Us > Ask a question > Select 'International - Scholarships and financial aid' as your topic. New students must include the following personal details in the email:
    • Full name
    • Griffith University ID
    • Social insurance number
    • Address in Canada
    • Telephone number in Canada

Continuing students that have loans for their studies at Griffith University do not need to give us their SIN.

  4. Once the International Finance Office has received your request, we will complete the required form and send it directly to the lender.

2024 study dates

The following dates will be used by the International Finance Office on all student loan documents:

  • Full year 2024: 4 March to 26 October 2024 (28 weeks)
  • Trimester 1 2024: 4 March to 15 June 2024 (14 weeks)
  • Trimester 2 2024: 15 July to 26 October 2024 (14 weeks)
  • Trimester 3 2024: 4 November 2024 to 22 February 2025 (14 weeks)

Program dates do not include orientation periods. The International Finance Office will use first day of classes for any programs that have an earlier start date.

Receiving your funding

  1. You should receive a Confirmation of Enrolment form each trimester from your loan provider for the International Finance Office for certification. The two-page document can be scanned and emailed to us via Ask Us > Ask a question > Select 'International - Scholarships and financial aid' as your topic. All scanned documents must be clear. If we cannot read the details on the scanned document, we will request another one from you.
  2. The International Finance Office will complete and email the Confirmation of Enrolment to the loan provider, or to you, depending on the loan provider's requirements.
  3. You will receive an email from the International Finance Office advising that the paperwork has been submitted to your loan provider, or with the Confirmation of Enrolment attached if the loan provider requires you to upload it yourself.
  4. Once your loan provider has processed your Confirmation of Enrolment Form, the loan funds will be deposited into your bank, as listed on your Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement.

Your tuition fees are due for payment by census date each trimester, which is at the end of week 4 of classes.
