The Academic Grammar and Vocabulary workshop focuses on grammar and vocabulary that are typically challenging for university students. Topics include:

  • verb tenses
  • academic vocabulary
  • complex structures in academic writing.

The workshop begins in Week 2 and finishes in Week 7 of each trimester. Workshops do not meet on public holidays or during the mid-term breaks.

The Pronunciation Power workshop helps improve pronunciation skills and build speaking confidence. The workshops aims to:

  • introduce the sounds of English that are typically problematic
  • improve intonation and rhythm to improve intelligibility
  • help students focus on their individual areas of need.

The workshop begins in Week 2 and finishes in Week 7 of each trimester. Workshops do not meet on public holidays or during the mid-term breaks.

The Scientific Writing workshop focuses on the skills required to write a scientific report. The workshops focus on:

  • the organisation and structure of a conventional report
  • the style and layout typically used in reports
  • the academic language required for this text type

The workshop begins in Week 2 and finishes in Week 7 of each trimester. Workshops do not meet on public holidays or during the mid-term breaks.

The Higher Degree Research Language workshop supports the advanced academic language skills required for HDR programs. This workshop is open to HDR and PhD students or students in research masters. The workshop aims to:

  • develop advanced academic language skills for reading and writing
  • improve structure, coherence and cohesion
  • raise awareness of how to write clearly and concisely.

The workshop begins in Week 2 and finishes in Week 13 of each trimester. Workshops do not meet on public holidays or during the mid-term breaks.
