Former Queensland Chairman, KPMG
Robert Jones was Chairman of the KPMG practice in Queensland from 2012 - 2017. In this role he was responsible for enhancing KPMG's profile and brand in the Queensland market and building a client centric culture within the firm.
Previous to this role, Rob was the Managing Partner of the Audit Practice in Queensland from 2002 to 2013 and also established the local Transaction Services Practice in 2002 on returning from London,where he served for 2 years as a partner in the UK Financial Services Group from 1997 to 1999. In conjunction with his Chairman’s duties, he was also the lead relationship partner for a number of key Queensland clients. He has 40 years professional experience, specialising in the Financial Services, Mining and Industrial markets.
Throughout his career, Rob has worked across a number of different business areas within the firm including:Assurance and Governance,Deals Advisory, Corporate Recovery and CFO Advisory. His client involvement has been primarily in the public company space focusing on Assurance to Boards and Audit Committees, governance processes, regulatory compliance, acquisition and vendor due diligence, IPO's and capital raisings.
After retiring from KPMG, Rob has undertaken a number of Advisory Board roles and is currently a member of St John’s College Council at the University of Queensland. In August 2018, Rob was appointed to the Ipswich City Council Interim Management Committee by the Queensland Government to assist the Interim Administrator until Council elections to be held in March 2020. The role of the Interim Management Committee is to assist the Interim Administrator perform his responsibilities and together rebuild and maintain a healthy Council culture, implement sound financial management practices, progress key projects and manage considerable policy, procedural and operational change.
