Creative Writing

Economics

In today's world, economics is about more than just numbers. Economists keep economies strong and stable and can help nations develop. You'll learn how societies distribute and use their resources, and how markets communicate with each other in evolving environments and industries. History

History reveals how the past has shaped the present and is likely to influence the future.  It also provides an unrivalled perspective on human thought and behaviour, encompassing different cultures and societies across time and space.  As experts in the analysis of change, history graduates can pursue exciting careers in government, education, heritage, research, consulting, diplomacy and many other sectors.

Human Geography

Human geography explores the relationships between people, places, and environments. This will be a good major to consider if you're driven to understand people, politics, culture and place through questions of inequality, sustainability, and mobility. We'll train you to connect your studies with future employment, as well as help you to rethink how you understand the connectedness of our communities, environment and world.

Indigenous Studies

You'll explore the historical, cultural and political relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians through theoretical and practical engagements. You'll gain an awareness of the tensions produced by this relationship and how to develop and implement initiatives and strategies to address those tensions.

Islam-West Relations

Islam–West Relations explores culture, religion, politics, and coexistence between Islamic and Western states and societies through historical, textual, and sociological perspectives. Students examine issues of faith, peace, security, justice, and humanity, gaining evidence-based knowledge, intercultural communication skills, and critical-analytical insights necessary for careers in business, education, government, media, and community sectors in an increasingly interconnected and complex world.

Journalism

Who knows what is true anymore? Journalists do. Interrogate the powers that be, share information with the community you serve and learn how to produce and distribute the stories that matter. Griffith Journalism graduates are working for Australian Story, SBS, ABC News, ABC Radio, WIN News, Seven Network, ARN, Southern Cross Austereo, The Today Show, The Courier Mail, 10 News First and many other newsrooms around the country and the world.

Language and Society

Language is part of everything humans do. Language is carefully crafted to shape interpretations and project who we are across diverse social contexts. Explore culture through the lens of language. Political Science and Public Policy

Screen Studies

Explore the power and appeal of film and television in the Screen Studies major. More than just entertainment, these screen media blend art and technology to tell the stories that shape our cultures and worldviews. By looking closely at techniques of visual storytelling and delving into media histories, theories and cultures, you’ll see them in a new and critical light.

Sociology

Sociology is the study of society. What could be more important? What makes us tick? How does power define our lives? What makes you who you are? Do we have one identity or shift among many?

Strategic Communication

In this major you will build your practical skills and develop a strong knowledge of the principles that underpin strategic communication, preparing you for a range of communication roles. You will develop communication strategies and tactics for a variety of contexts and situations. You will produce a portfolio of communication examples including communication plans, media centres, case studies, communication campaigns and podcasts.

Theatre

This Major engages the world today through a contemporary theatrical lens.

You will collaborate with leading industry professionals in a diverse curriculum to produce work reflecting historical, critical, cultural and social justice themes.

Graduate pathways include directing, producing, devising, and reviewing theatre. Graduate add-on skills will enable you to work in health and well-being, community theatre, and theatre for social justice.
