PhD Candidate

Claudia Tobar Cid is a PhD candidate at Griffith University’s School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. Her doctoral research investigates the barriers and opportunities within the criminal justice system to better address the needs and interests of women who are victims of intimate partner violence (IPV). Focusing on victims’ experiences within the Chilean judicial system, her work aims to understand how IPV cases are handled and to identify ways to more effectively meet victims’ justice needs.

Claudia is also a research member of the Centre for Minority Rights and Diversity Studies (CEDEMI) at Universidad de Talca, Chile, and serves as Assistant Editor of Ius et Praxis, a law journal published by the same university. Her PhD studies are funded by the Chilean Government’s National Agency for Research and Development (ANID) through its Scholarship for Doctoral Studies Abroad program.
