Taking creative arts and music to regional Queensland
In March 2022, Griffith University’s creative and performing arts schools joined forces to bring a lively program of events for both high school students and the local community to Longreach.
The Griffith University Regional Arts Program engaged high school students and staff within the Western Queensland Corridor, in a set of intensive workshops and activities across film and screen media, visual arts, design and music.
On 17 March 2022 the local Longreach community was treated to a special orchestral music event, performed by members of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and select students from Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University.
Program Details
Orchestral Luminescence Concert

Celebrating the future of the creative and performing arts in Queensland, Orchestral Luminescence featured a unique collaboration between Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University and Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Locals experienced a high calibre of pop, broadway and classical music performances in a live open-air concert experience at the Qantas Founders Museum, set amongst the historic Qantas Airpark displays. The evening also featured a presentation by Griffith Film School and a performance art piece by renowned Australian multi-media artist Justene Williams.
Regional Arts School Program

Queensland Conservatorium, Queensland College of Art, Griffith Film School, and Open Conservatorium joined forces to present a three-day intensive program of creativity and development for high school students and teachers in music, film, visual arts and design in the regional town of Longreach, Queensland.
Participating students and teachers worked alongside, and were guided by, a team of world-renowned faculty from Griffith University and select members of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. The workshop culminated in a concert and exhibition at the end of the week.
