First year

First year is an important time to look at upcoming for credit and not for credit Work Integrated Learning opportunities so you can plan for your enrolment or internships appropriately. Please note you are not eligible for credit opportunities until penultimate or final year.

The Trimester 1 Orientation event at the Banco Court provides first year students with an opportunity to hear from leaders of the profession welcoming you to the legal community (the Chief Justice or a Justice of the Supreme Court, Queensland Law Society (QLS) representative, and Bar Association representative), and from Griffith alumni talking about their diverse range of careers. Those commencing in Trimester 2 and Trimester 3 will be invited to the following year’s event. More information can be found by visiting the Griffith Law School First Year's website.

Career planning is also addressed in Foundations of Law - students complete a My Law Career module in which students prepare a Career Action Plan, identifying career goals and steps you might take to support achievement of those goals.
