For admission to Griffith University, all applicants (whether domestic or international) must provide evidence that their English language ability meets the minimum requirements for admission.
In most cases, applicants will meet these requirements if they have completed (and provided evidence of) secondary or post-secondary studies in a recognised English-speaking country.
If English is not your first language and you have not studied in a recognised English-speaking country, you will be required to provide evidence of meeting the required minimum* English language proficiency in one of the following ways:
- Achieve the minimum score listed for one of the English proficiency tests in the 'Language Requirements' section for your program. English test results must be no more than two years old.
- Provide a statement of service demonstrating at least two years full-time work experience in an English-speaking professional work environment in Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA, Republic of Ireland, South Africa or Canada. The work experience must be within two years of admission and your position must be assessed as a minimum skill level 1 or 2 under the Occupation Standard Classification for Australia (OSCA) to meet English language requirements. The statement of service must:
- be signed and dated by your employer
- be on the employer’s official stationery/letterhead
- include contact details of the person completing the statement
- confirm the position / job title and the main duties performed
- detail the employment period, including start and end dates
- confirm whether the position was held on a full-time, part-time or casual/contract basis
- confirm the regular hours worked per week or total hours worked to date.
Please note: copies of employment contracts, letters of offer, payslips and unofficial letters do not meet the requirements.
* You should review the language requirements on Degree Finder for your desired program, to determine if you are required to provide evidence of English Language proficiency, noting that some programs have higher requirements. For these programs, evidence of meeting language requirements may only be provided by completing an approved English language proficiency test or additional evidence may be required.
