Our Brisbane City campus brings together the historic Treasury Building and our industry-leading creative arts precinct at South Bank. Scheduled to open in 2027*, the heritage-listed Treasury Building will house new facilities for business, law and IT, as well as postgraduate and executive education, placing students in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD with unprecedented access to industry, government and community.

Treasury Building

Location: Treasury Building, Brisbane CBD

Project lead: Major Projects and Planning

Project description: Griffith University is breathing new life into its Brisbane CBD location with FDC Construction and Fitout, and COX Architecture on board to revitalise the Treasury Building. The reimagined, heritage-listed building will bring together its rich history and architecture with contemporary, state-of-the-art spaces for learning, industry connection, and community events and collaboration. The refurbishment will preserve the site’s heritage status while upgrading the building to meet contemporary expectations. The project embeds sustainability by reusing or repurposing as many existing features and materials as possible.

  • library with 24/7 access for students
  • multiple food outlets available for students, staff and the public
  • a student hub including kitchen facilities, vending, machines and a food pantry
  • three bespoke 12m feature skylights installed above the enclosed courtyard
  • communal study spaces for students with a focus on collaborative learning
  • dedicated events spaces
  • financial trading room for business students
  • moot court for law students
  • cyber range room for IT students
  • end-of-trip facility
