Office furniture

Understand how to purchase office furniture available for Griffith staff. Catalogue items have been pre-selected using the following criteria:

  • Ergonomic and safe office chairs certified to AFRDI six level (Australian Furniture Research and Development Institute)
  • Strength and durability
  • Cost effective and aesthetic
  • Preference for independent environmental certification e.g. Green Building tick; Good Earth Choice (GECA)
  • Preference for local manufacturers if suitable products are available

Warp It

Warp It helps Griffith staff reuse furniture and other surplus items across the university. To support reuse and reduce unnecessary purchasing, please check Warp It before buying new furniture.

Sourcing furniture on Warp It helps Griffith University reach its Sustainability Goals.

Warp It lists office furniture, stationery and some white goods. New items are added regularly.

Go to Warp It and select Register now. You will receive further instructions after registering.

Health and Safety recommended a chair for me. What should I do?

If Health and Safety has recommended a specific chair, or Warp It does not have a suitable item, you can request catalogue access by raising a ticket on Services@Griffith. When lodging your request, select Griffith Marketplace.

Buying furniture at Griffith

From 1 January 2026, all furniture purchases must be made through a supplier under the Queensland Government Furniture & School Emergency Furniture arrangement - QED 104526 SOA. If you need to use a supplier outside the panel, advice and an exemption must be sought from Strategic Procurement and Supply prior to the purchase.

How to order new items

Steps

  1. Order via Griffith staff portal: Finance Services/Make & Manage a Purchase. Select the Griffith Marketplace tile if a preferred furniture supplier has a price for your item, or the ‘Other Purchases’ tile (also known as Special Requests) if it is not listed on Marketplace
  2. Select a furniture model and any additional options required
  3. Obtain price quote/s for your selections from the furniture suppliers
  4. Request a purchase order

On delivery

  • Check that the furniture is as ordered and undamaged. Your signature will be recorded by the supplier
  • Information regarding the warranty period, details for future orders, and item label are placed under the seat

Quote request

Staff are obliged to follow the requirements of University Procurement Policy.

Staff have online access to rate schedules from preferred suppliers, via Griffith Marketplace, Finance PeopleSoft.

Supply and Place quotes can also be requested directly from preferred suppliers, if in accordance with government procurement procedures. Contact details are listed at end of each category.

Quotes and orders

When obtaining a quote

  • List the quantity, item description, extra options  and selected finishes  (upholstery fabric, laminate and metal powder-coat colour, etc.) required
  • Request an expected lead time for delivery
  • Note that quotes for customised furniture may have a three to five day turn-around
  • Request a revised quote as required
  • Request quote/s from the supplier that includes the supply & placement of fully assembled items and that the packaging is to be removed off-site

Purchase order request

  • Select 'New Purchase Request'
  • Select 'Griffith Marketplace' catalogues or 'Other Purchases' and enter a pre-assessed quotation
  • Provide full address (including building name/number, room number and campus) and contact details for the delivery service so the delivery date can be arranged
  • Include a note so supplier contacts you at least one day prior for the delivery arrangements
  • Attach relevant quote/s to the purchase request
