Better spaces. Better connections. Better campus life.
Brisbane South (Nathan) campus is ushering in a new era. Griffith is purposefully and intentionally making updates to the campus, consolidating assets where they don’t fully serve the University’s goals and making strategic changes that will improve the overall student experience.
Works span across the campus, with everything from major infrastructure upgrades, a green space for staff and students’ leisure, new student accommodation and everything in between.

Collaboration between Major Projects and Planning, and Capital Works and Minor Projects teams.
Project description:
Griffith is embarking on a major reinvestment in on‑campus accommodation at Brisbane South (Nathan) to enhance the experience of future residents. The project will revitalise the Nathan accommodation precinct, with the addition of contemporary studio and townhouse‑style beds, designed to meet the expectations of today’s students. Due to their age and amenity, Kinaba and Girraween will be demolished in 2026 to make way for the new development. Recent upgrades, including significant plumbing refurbishments, have extended the life of the remaining buildings. The new accommodation will provide high‑quality, modern and community‑focused living that supports student wellbeing, social connection and a more vibrant campus environment.
Key features and facilities:
- Ensuited modern studio units (some with kitchenettes).
- Shared communal spaces such as cinema rooms, music rooms, study zones, and kitchens.
- Townhouse‑style accommodation, each dwelling containing 6–10 bedrooms, with its own lounge and kitchen for resident use.
- Durable, contemporary building design aligned with modern student living standards.
