Report or disclose online, anytime
If there is an immediate risk to safety, contact emergency services on 000 or connect with after-hours services.
Make a disclosure or report
You can share information to seek support, advice or help understanding your options without asking Griffith to take formal action. For experiences of gender-based violence, sexual harm, racism, bullying, discrimination and harassment, this is described as making a disclosure.
A formal report is information you submit because you want Griffith to assess the matter and consider taking action through a formal process.
Students and staff can make a disclosure or formal report online by providing relevant details about the incident via the Complaints Form. If you're not ready to make a submission, or not sure where to start, you can contact the Integrity and Complaints team or a University support service for more information and to discuss your options.
Anonymous disclosure or report
We understand that individuals may prefer to notify the University anonymously. This may apply if you want to record an incident or behaviour but aren't seeking a direct reply from the University.
While the University treats all disclosures and reports seriously, it is important to note that we may not be able to fully investigate, provide notice of a decision or take action to resolve the matter when the source is unknown.
Individuals can maintain anonymity or change their mind and provide contact details to the Integrity and Complaints team.
Where contact details are provided, individuals will receive details of support options available at the University. You can also explore these options at Reporting and Disclosure or in the reporting and disclosure flowchart.
Disclosures and reports from members of the public
Griffith University also accepts disclosures and reports about our students and staff from members of the public.
What happens after you submit?
- Safety and wellbeing are considered. Any immediate risks or support needs will be identified and discussed.
- The matter is assessed. The Integrity and Complaints team considers the information provided and the appropriate specialist pathway for your matter.
- We will contact you about options and next steps. Where appropriate, further information may be requested and/or referral to other University service teams may be made.
- The University will continue to support you. Relevant support remains available during and after any process, if you wish to access it.
Your choices
Your preferences will be considered, and support is available whether or not you ask Griffith to take formal action. In some circumstances, Griffith may need to act because of safety, legal, regulatory or other University obligations. Where possible, the team will explain your options and next steps.
Privacy, confidentiality and anonymity
Information is handled carefully and shared only where needed for support, safety, assessment, a fair process or Griffith’s obligations. Anonymity and what Griffith can keep confidential will depend on the circumstances and the action requested. More information about privacy, confidentiality and fairness is available for students and employees.
Support options
You do not need to make a formal report to access support. You can contact a specialist service first, including services for harassment, personal violence, and counselling, or use the Complaints Form when you want Griffith to assess the matter and refer you to the most relevant support service/s.
More information about supports, at and external to Griffith, is available at Reporting and Disclosure.
