The Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics houses facilities on Griffith University’s Gold Coast and Brisbane South (Nathan) campuses. We are positioned within South-East Queensland’s network of health and knowledge precincts, allowing for optimal connectivity with a booming biomedical industry, state-of-the-art hospitals and healthcare centres and other premier research institutes and universities.

Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics Honours/Masters Scholarships 2026
In 2026, we are offering a number of prestigious student scholarships valued at $5,000 each to outstanding students wishing to undertake Honours/Masters research projects within the Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics. Up to one scholarship will be prioritised for an eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicant. To be eligible, applicants should be enrolled in any relevant Griffith University Science or Health Group Honours/Masters programs and should be undertaking a research project with a primary/main supervisor who is a member of IBG. Sally & Warren von Bibra Honours/Masters Scholarships are generously sponsored by Sally & Warren von Bibra, who are strong supporters of the institute and have been sponsoring this scheme since 2003.
IBG Circle Honours/Masters Scholarship is open to an outstanding female who has enrolled in an eligible Griffith University program. The IBG Circle are strong supporters of women researchers at the IBG and has supported the scholarship scheme since 2021.

Our history
The Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics was formally established on 1 July 2024. Griffith University augmented its formidable strengths in biomedical research by bringing together the outstanding discovery and translational research, infrastructure, and training expertise of the former Institute for Glycomics, Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery (GRIDD) and biomedical teams from within the Menzies Health Institute Queensland (MHIQ).
