Student testimonial
The GABI Program gave me the opportunity to undertake an internship in Tokyo, Japan, at Ugajin International Law Firm. Participation in the program gave me real-world experience in the legal field on an international scale. I was fortunate to be able to visit the lawyer's association building, district courts and observe a Japanese trial! I had broadened my perspective of my field of study and gained insights into the cultural differences which impacted law. I had studied the law within Australia countless times during my degree, but I felt I lacked an international understanding of my field. The internship supplemented my degree and helped fill this gap.
My experience taught me about Japanese culture and business customs. I formed so many fond memories with my fellow interns and within my workplace. Alongside my friends, I was able to see the breathtaking site of Mount Fuji, pet the deer of Nara and experience the chaos of the trains in Japan. While my experience challenged me at times, I developed my independence and self-reliance while navigating a different culture, language and climate.
I received an NCP grant which significantly helped with funding my participation in the program. I wholly recommend applying to the GABI program, the small step of applying can take your life places you never envisioned yourself going.

Industry testimonial
[Tenisha Wilkey] demonstrated a professional attitude and mature judgment that far exceeded what one would expect from an intern. Not only did she make tremendous efforts to understand Japanese culture, but she also absorbed new knowledge at a remarkable pace and quickly became a valuable contributor to our team. For example, in her first project, she persistently worked through trial and error, not only delivering high-quality work within the deadline but also consistently providing added value beyond our expectations, such as creating comprehensive manuals.
What impressed me most was her humble yet confident demeanor, and her willingness to accept feedback and continuously grow from it. We would warmly welcome her back at any time, and I am confident that she will be an invaluable asset to your organization.
