The Daley Family Scholarships are Top-up Scholarships that will honour Mr Thomas Daley who has left this gift in his will to support candidates in the medical research area.

The particular focus for recipients will be in the research of Streptococcus A, Rheumatic Heart Disease, Ross River Virus or Meningitis, as they undertake a PhD at Griffith University.

To be eligible to be considered for the top up scholarship the applicant must

Preference will be given to candidates that will be conducting research in Streptococcus A, Rheumatic Heart Disease, Ross River Virus or Meningitis.

The scholarship recipient will receive a top up scholarship of $20,000 per annum for up to three years.

To be eligible to receive the top up scholarship you must also apply for and be awarded an Australian Government RTP Stipend Scholarship or Griffith University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (or equivalent). The 2023 Griffith University Indigenous Australian Postgraduate Research Scholarship has an annual stipend of $50,000 for a period of up to four years of full-time study.

To be considered for this scholarship please submit a 300 word statement about yourself and your personal ambitions with your online application and state in the scholarship section that you are applying for The Daley Family Scholarship. A list of finalists will be reviewed by a panel compromising of:

  • The Dean, Griffith Graduate Research School (or nominated representative).
  • Panel members nominated by the Dean GGRS.
